March is still the end of the pleasant warm and dry season for Hong Kong. You may notice that it is slightly more cloudy than at the beginning of the year with around 3 to 4 hours of sunshine during the day. However, with temperatures at a comfortable 18 degrees Celcius (around 65 degrees Fahrenheit) it makes for a good time to visit Hong Kong without it being too hot and humid.
Rainfall is still relatively light during this time of year, so it is ideal if you’re looking to spend a good deal of time outdoors. The wetter months usually begin in around April, with a peak in June, so there is plenty of time to get some good sightseeing around this fascinating city during that time.
Pollution in Hong Kong in March
Pollution in March is beginning to rise overall, but it is advised to avoid high traffic areas such as roadsides if you can. This is especially if you have any kind of breathing difficulties that could be exasterated due to high pollution levels.
Clothing in March
As with the first two months of the year, it is advised to bring a jacket with you for the evenings. However, it is unlikely to be too rainy so packing an umbrella just for emergencies should be all you’ll need.
Events in Hong Kong in March
During March in 2011 there is the 39th Hong Kong Arts Festival (from 17th February to the 27th March), and also towards the end of the month from the 25th March to the 5th of April there is the Hong Kong International Film Festival. There is also the Hong Kong Sevens 2011 rugby football event from the 25h to the 27th of March. Hong Kong is always alive with festivals and events so you will never have a dull moment!
