You will also find that February is the start of when Hong Kong gets a little more cloudy, which has a knock-on effect on the number of daylight hours, reducing them to just around 3 or 4 on average.

Arguably Hong Kong and China’s biggest event, the Chinese New Year usually occurs in February. As this happens on the second day of the lunar new year, the exact date changes from year to year. In 2011 Chinese New Year will fall on February 3rd, and in 2012, it will fall in January on the 23rd. Then in 2013, it falls in February again on the 10th.
The festivities for Chinese New Year can last over 2 weeks with different events on each day. Be aware if you are booking accommodation during this time that prices may be high and availability scarce, so book early! It is well worth the effort, though, as this national holiday will be an experience of a lifetime!
