Weather in Hong Kong in August

  • Sharebar

August is the wettest month of the year in Hong Kong with precipitation up to 445mm on average spread over an average of 17 rainy days. This doesn’t leave a huge number of days that are dry and clear, but as long you are prepared for this and aren’t relying on splendid sunshine every day, you’ll be fine.

Average temperatures are very similar to that of July but during August they just begin to show signs of falling but are still very high at an average of 29 °C and temperatures still reaching up to 31 °C. August is a popular month for people to holiday from Europe in particular, but beware if you’re bringing children with you or you have any health conditions that might be aggrevated due to the high temperatures and humidity. Pollution in Hong Kong is renowned for being very bad, so simple measures like avoiding the main roads as much as you can will lessen your exposure to nasty car fumes.
